As summer breaks begin to draw to a close, we write to remind you that the 2024 application for the Coca-Cola Scholarship (open to high school students who will graduate during the 2023-2024 academic year) will be available from our website August 1 through October 2, 2023. Note that we have an earlier deadline this year! Please plan to share this opportunity with your graduating students who are having a significant positive impact in your school and community through their leadership and service. National Association of University Women Scholarship & Book Stipend
The Lake Charles Branch of the National Association of University Women is accepting applications from high school seniors who wish to apply for our annual $1,500.00 ($750.00 per semester-maximum of two semesters) scholarship. This $1,500.00 scholarship will be given to an African American female student. Three applicants from each high school can be submitted. Click on the title to access the application. Lake Area Scholarship
The Lake Charles Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and The Lake Area Foundation is now accepting applications for its 2023 Scholarship. Four $500 Scholarships will be awarded to the graduating seniors of Calcasieu Parish. Students will complete the application along with writing a 250-word essay on "How would this scholarship be beneficial to you?" The application deadline is April 15, 2023. Recipients will receive their award on Saturday, May 27th at the Lake Area Foundation Black and White Gala.

Hagan Scholarship
The Hagan Scholarship is a nationwide four-year need-based merit scholarship providing each recipient with the opportunity to graduate from college debt-free, providing up to $6,000 each semester. After graduation from college, Hagan Scholars can apply for a 2-year extension of their scholarship to attend graduate school or a professional school, receiving $6,000 each semester.
Basic Eligibility Requirements:
Must attend an eligible public high school
Must have achieved a 3.5 GPA
Must enroll in an eligible college or university
Must maintain a 4 year or less graduation schedule
Applicant's Adjusted Household Income reported for Federal Income Tax Purposes must not Exceed $85,000
Horatio Alger Assoication
The Horatio Alger Association is excited to announce that we have opened our scholarship application for the 2024 Horatio Alger Scholarship Programs. We would like to invite current high school juniors from your high school who meet eligibility requirements to apply.
In keeping with the educational mission of the Horatio Alger Association, the scholarship programs provide financial assistance to students in the US who have financial need and have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity. Scholarship criteria also include: commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree starting September 2024, and US citizenship. The Association will be awarding more than 600scholarships across the country valued at $10,000 - $25,000 each to deserving scholarship recipients. School House Connection Youth Leadership & Scholarship Program
The SHC Youth Leadership and Scholarship Program Provides:
- $2,000 scholarship award
- One-on-one help with college enrollment and financial aid, mental health advocacy and referrals, legal advocacy and referrals, and assistance with locating local resources
- A stable peer and adult support network
- Meaningful opportunities to engage in state and federal advocacy
Eligibility:
- Currently residing in the United States (undocumented students are eligible)
- Born on or after October 15, 2002
- Beginning college (four year, community college, or trade school) for the first time in 2023 (not including dual-enrollment courses)
- Experienced homelessness in the last six years
Application Requirements:
- 1000 Word Essay
- Transcript (Unofficial is Acceptable)
- One Letter of Recommendation
Shearman Foundation Scholarship
LSUA--HOWARD & ELOISE MULDER FULL-RIDE SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is a FULL RIDE to LSUA for 4 years!
Howard and Eloise Mulder provided leadership to the Louisiana State University at Alexandria Foundation, having served on its Board of Directors since its establishment in 1993. They provided extensive gifts to LSUA students, faculty and staff through the LSUA Foundation. Mrs. Mulder passed away in 2004 and Mr. Mulder passed away in 2011. As a part of the gift that Mr. and Mrs. Mulder provided to LSUA, an endowed scholarship for students has been established that is known as the Howard and Eloise Mulder Endowed Scholarship Fund at Louisiana State University of Alexandria. Students receiving the scholarship will be known as a Mulder Scholar.
Eligibility
This scholarship shall be rewarded to a first-time freshman student who has shown exceptional academic success with an overall 3.5 grade point average or better in high school. This scholarship cannot be used for students pursuing a 100% online degree.
Amount of the Scholarship
The award shall cover the full cost of a semester’s tuition, fees, books, and on-campus housing and meal plans incurred as a direct result of the recipient’s attendance at LSUA. This scholarship will pay any outstanding balance after applying state and federal free financial aid, not including loans.
Appointment
Any interested, qualifying student must complete the application and submit to the Enrollment Management Office no later than February 1, 2023. In addition, the student must apply for admission to and receive acceptance to LSUA. The scholarship committee will review all applications submitted and select final candidates no later than February 15, 2023. Finalists will be invited to an on-campus interview with a selection committee on March 11, 2022.
Retention of the Scholarship
The scholarship will be awarded for no more than 8 consecutive semesters (fall and spring) provided that the student has maintained a 3.5 cumulative grade point average for all course work taken. No awards will be made for the summer sessions.
Loss of the Scholarship
The scholarship may be withdrawn for any of the following reasons:
- Resignation from LSUA;
- Registering for or maintaining fewer than 12 hours during a fall or spring semester;
- Being placed on disciplinary probation;
- Failure to maintain a 3.5 grade point average.

Delta Sigma Theta Scholarship
The deadline for this scholarship application is January 31, 2024 (must be received and postmarked by this date). This application is also available on the chapter's website.
The EnergyRates.ca College Scholarship is a yearly (ongoing) scholarship by EnergyRates.ca. Every year, we award outstanding students for their essays on the energy industry. We would be glad if you could inform your students of our scholarship by linking our page to your “Scholarships” page. Students from all fields are welcome to apply.
The deadline for the 2023 competition is January 31, 2024 (The deadline is January 31 annually). We are offering a $500 scholarship to any student planning to enroll or currently enrolled in an American or Canadian post-secondary educational institution in the coming year (USD 500 for Americans or CAD 500 for Canadians). All you must do to be eligible for the scholarship is write an essay in English or French, no more than 500 words in length, telling us where you see the future of the energy industry. You can talk about anything you want — green energy, oil politics, the continued use of nuclear power, your own ideas and innovations — so long as it’s about energy in the world of tomorrow. Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation Scholarship
Each year, the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation awards 150 college scholarships worth $20,000 to high school students across the United States through the Coca-Cola Scholars Program. Students need a 3.0 GPA and to fill out an online application that requires no essays, no recommendations, and no transcripts by October 31, 2022, at 5 p.m. Eastern.
We want IHS to have a Coke Scholar this year!
The 2023-24 application is open to high school seniors until 5 p.m. Eastern on October 31, 2023.
